This Privacy Policy explains what information OutdoorBudget (outdoorbudget.com) collects when you use our website and calculators, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have – including under the UK GDPR and US state privacy laws.
In short:
- Our calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type are not sent to us.
- You don’t need an account, and we don’t ask for your name or email to use the tools.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We don’t use analytics or advertising cookies.

Who we are
OutdoorBudget operates the website outdoorbudget.com and is the “controller” of the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at shenoyvaliyavilayil@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Information you type into our calculators
Our calculators work entirely in your web browser. Distances, prices, names in the trip splitter and other values you enter are processed on your device and are not sent to or stored by us.
The Group Trip Expense Splitter saves your trip (names and expenses) in your browser’s local storage so it is still there when you come back on the same device. This information stays on your device. You can delete it by choosing “Start a blank trip” or by clearing your browser’s site data.
Technical information
Like almost every website, our web server and hosting provider automatically receive technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time. This is used to deliver the website, keep it secure and fix problems.
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to include.
Third-party services
Some parts of the website are delivered by trusted third parties, who may receive your IP address and browser information when your browser loads their content:
- Hosting and content delivery – our hosting provider and its content delivery network store and serve the website.
- Fonts and icons – web fonts (such as Google Fonts) and emoji images (from WordPress.org) may be loaded from their servers.
Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
How we use information and our legal bases
We use personal information only to:
- provide, secure and improve the website (legitimate interests);
- reply to your messages and requests (legitimate interests, or to take steps you ask for);
- comply with the law and protect our rights (legal obligation and legitimate interests).
We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
International transfers
We serve visitors in the United Kingdom and the United States, and our service providers may process information in other countries. When personal information from the UK is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where our provider is certified.
How long we keep information
- Calculator inputs: not collected by us. Trip splitter data stays on your device until you delete it.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
- Emails and messages: kept for as long as needed to deal with your request, and normally no longer than two years.
Your rights (UK and EEA)
Under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 (and the EU GDPR, if it applies), you have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

Your rights (United States)
Depending on where you live – for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws – you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it;
- access and receive a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and of targeted advertising.

We may need to verify your identity, and you can use an authorized agent. We will not discriminate against you for using your rights. Children’s privacy
Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and keeping our software up to date. No website can be completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information to us by email.

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features. We will change the “Last updated” date at the top, and for significant changes we will make the update clear on the website.
